When asked where the power lay between designers, buyers and magazine former American Vogue editor Grace Mirabella said magazines 'which is not to say individual designers don't make important statements. Or that store buyers aren't the first on their block. But fi-nally, fi-nally the magazines dictate what's at the top. We don't design clothes, but we can be very selective in our reporting. The insistence by us on a certain ease and modernity has been decisive, and we try to resist moving away from that.'
Has the advent of the digital age changed this? Has the power balance shifted? Who controls the visual field in fashion now?
